    Notice those cuts haven't happened.
And, being that cutting Soc Sec is the highest goal of the GOP, if it was also on Obama and the Dems' agenda it would be a done deal.
The mantra that this is Obama's intention is part of the problem. It's one of the disinformation factoids that Pure Progressives have swallowed that form the basis for their anti-Obama critique.

"...if it was also on Obama and the Dems' agenda it would be a done deal."

It's apparently on Obama's agenda, since the White House keeps proposing it.  It is not on the agenda of the democratic representatives in the legislature, because they wouldn't be just shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to re-election, they'd be kneecapping themselves with a guillotine.

If it's not Obama's intention, why does the White House keep proposing deals that include cuts to SS and Medicare?

        •  Seriously? (0+ / 0-)

There's a significant difference between getting something passed and preventing it from passing.  Also, in the case of SS cuts, even a significant amount of the republican reps are against it, because it would fuck a disproportionate number of their constituents.

You can generally count on an elected official -- if on nothing else -- to not commit electoral suicide.
