how much I love you (both you and River)?

I've been fortunate never to have been the victim of domestic violence/physical abuse. (Emotional abuse, yes, but that's another topic for a totally different diary). I don't understand what makes a man use physical force against a woman he professes to care about. I just know it happens, and it has to stop.

      And right back atcha!

Although I don't necessarily make too great a distinction between emotional and physical abuse - too often, they go hand in hand.  And then you have people like my father, who was too terrified of losing my mother actually to lay a hand on her, but her abused her emotionally all the time.  it was us kids who got smacked around (in addition to the psychological abuse).  And, of course, you have those who escalate over time.  But I'm just very glad to hear that you have not had to worry about the former, and that you're now safe from the latter, too.
