      they are both right, even though generally Glenn's right. Can't long for/laud investigative journalism and castigate the journalist who actually isn't a stenographer.

        that we barely know what to make of an old-fashioned investigative journalist.  But a free press is such a vital part of a democracy that we must protect it fiercely, and not allow it to be tarnished by jingoistic, self-serving attacks by our politicians.  None of the decision makers who carried out the policies that Manning's "blunderbuss" release uncovered suffered any consequences at all.  The disparity in punishment should not be allowed to slip away from our notice.
