The ACA doesn't need to be dumped, although it could use some fixes.

Dumping it takes us back to the health care status quo prior to 2010.  Anyone who thinks that anything else can get passed now or in the next few years is living in a fantasy.

    •  Absolutely. (0+ / 0-)

Whether Obamacare (let's affirm that brand now!) was the very best that could have been achieved in '09 is unknowable (but it very possibly was not).
Ditto whether taking single-payer off the table in advance was helpful (almost surely not).
But TexasTom's right:  it's what we have, and it's better than what we had.
And single-payer was almost certainly not an attainable reality then, and clearly is not now, nor will it be in the near future.
The Publicans are doing a fine job tearing themselves to shreds.  Why in the world would any progressive want the Dem's to do the same, especially right now?
Let's win '14 and '16 -- hopefully with not just more, but with better Dem's.
Then let's try to reverse the three-decade demolition of the middle- and working-classes, and of the poor -- not to mention trying to accomplish something on AGW.
Then -- maybe -- we can start thinking about single-payer.

save billions in the process and this would be a win for elections as well.  Don't be skeered of the tea baggers, Obama won  handily.
