is cheating just imbedded in Repub DNA?  Or is it ripping people off to steal money just a function of being a Repub?

Maybe, just maybe, those of us who call ourselves Liberuls, Progressives, Greens, etc., should pay more attention to what is going on more locally before the thieves move their way through the system and become schools chief.

    Just a thought.

and I gotta confess I don't pay nearly enough attention to local politics and policies. And yes, that's gotta change.

I expect this guy to be running failed for-profit charter schools with financial records so bad they can't be audited in Ohio soon.

    •  Honestly (10+ / 0-)

I think these particular Republicans have had their antics approved so many times, that they don't even see it as wrong.

This is what we get if we want to run schools like businesses.

..so private school founder and wealthy GOP donor can continue siphoning off tax payer money away from public schools

Indianapolis charter school run by a prominent Republican donor might receive a poor grade, Bennett's education team frantically overhauled his signature "A-F" school grading system to improve the school's marks.
Christel Dehaan, founder of the private for profit  of ‘Christel House’ has given more than $2.8 million to Republicans since 1998, including $130,000to Bennett and thousands more to state legislative leaders.
Indiana uses the A-F grades to determine which schools get taken over by the state and whether students seeking state-funded vouchers to attend private school need to first spend a year in public school. They also help determine how much state funding schools receive.
This is the doing of Former Indiana and current Florida schools chief Tony Bennett who built his national star by promising to hold "failing" schools accountable.

Accountable – yeah right.. To whom? Certainly not the children in need of an education. Once again the GOP proves their central tenet of free market competition and stated goal of eliminating “waste fraud & abuse” is bullshit.

And the constantly repeated allegation that public schools can’t provide for the needs of future generations or compete with the excellence provided by a voucher system of private for profit schools is also a lie that actually harms children and public education.

It’s all about profit . And making sure rich donors get a return on investment in their republican shills

I think this is the real motivation for the charter school movement.  It is an attack on labor.  The billionaires will not be happy until organized labor is history.

Elimination of teacher unions, ideological commitment to privatize everything; eliminates government violations of the First Amendment when for-profit schools force students to worship the invisible sky fairy...

...an alternate reality, a world where the good guys wore white hats and rode in on horses, saving people in the nick of time...from the bad guys who always wore black hats. If half the people really knew how politics really works they'd hardly ever vote at all. For example, there's really three houses of Congress: the House, the Senate, and the Lobbyists comprising over 35,000 corporate lobbyists in each house!

This is where the power of money, the corruption and the real power is. Backroom deals, smoke-filled rooms, plans within plans, hidden agendas--that aren't that hidden anymore thanks to Citizens United, who most people if you ask them don't even know who these people are. They are conservative think tanks and corporate shills who challenged the Constitution, the concept that people are "persons" not them...and won.

As a former, now retired full time Dem activist for over 6 years, I was in daily contact with all the leaders with  "juice" on both sides of the aisle. I of course advocated for the Democratic Party agenda. I've seen some deals that would curl your hair and gnash your teeth. Miss Laura wrote about something here today that is but the tip of a very huge iceberg.

      •  Um, I am not Pollyanna... (4+ / 0-)

and don't really live in some alternate reality.  But I do know that you get the Bachmanns and Kasichs of the world exactly in this manner.

I don't think there are good guys and bad guys, but alliances and lobbyists that get tax 'incentives' for their agenda.  I do thank you for your service tho.

...I doubt you would have taken my words as personally as you did. I couldn't have accomplished so much without the ability to speak tactfully to politicians. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers. Working so many years has made me a little rough along the edges. Trust me, my heart's in the right place, even when I don't say the words with enough honey to make them easier on the stomach. Enjoy the rest of your day!

    •  It's definitely the rich people way of life (5+ / 0-)

New study that came out a month ago:

-While 90 percent of California drivers follow a law requiring them to stop for pedestrians at crosswalks, people who drive luxury vehicles are three to four times more likely not to.

-In an experiment where people were left in a video-monitored room with a bowl of candy they were told was for kids coming by later, wealthy people took twice as much candy as poorer participants.

-A test of honesty in reporting dice rolls found that people making $150,000 a year cheated four times as much as someone who made $15,000 a year. Participants were told the prize for the best rolls was a $50 cash prize.

-In a Monopoly game rigged to give a randomly selected player extra starting cash and dice rolls, the player who had that advantage was more likely to say he deserved to win based on his skills (rather than his luck in a coin toss at the start).

A very recent study came out that said that only 28% of millionaires consider themselves rich.

Well all know that Republicans are all about the Benji's, so consider these studies proof that Republicans are cheating bastards.
