Ms. Giron was elected to the Senate with 55 percent of the vote in a Pueblo district that leans heavily Democratic. Only 23 percent of voters are Republicans.

She said she could not go anywhere in public without being drawn into a discussion about the recall election. “I’m watering plants in my front yard, and people stop,” she said. “I’m in the grocery store or getting gas, and people are coming up to me.”

And remember there were 17 votes (IIRC) cast for the bill. Angry gun rights folks targeted 4 of 17 for a recall, and failed on 2 of 4 people they collected signatures on.

Morse will be out in a year regardless. Peublo has to foot the bill, the state can not reimburse the county for the cost of the recall. What these recalls may do is awaken the ire of some voters who didn't care much about guns, even after Columbine.

CO is right in the middle of the nation re guns; 33% of adults have a gun in the home, and by almost all measures they are right in the middle of the pack.
