    at 11:30 on Dec 31 1975 I placed a bet that Carter would be the next President of the US.  I won a good chunk of moolah

    and going in to 1992 CLinton was considered the favorite -  he had after all been head of the National Governors Association, and he had the backing of the DLC.

    Obama was considered a longer shot until he won IA, that I will grant.

      that we aren't thinking of.  I know I used the word "nobody" but I am old enough to remember both Carter and Clinton announcing.  Carter was a super-longshot, and when Clinton announced, Bush I was still riding high on Gulf War I and very few (I won't say nobody) saw him as being at all vulnerable.
