    The Republicans ALWAYS nominate someone who has a plausible claim to be next in line. The only exception in recent history was Dubya, and he had the absolutely unique advantage of being the son of the last Republican president, coupled with the fact that the guy who really was next in line was an extremely weak candidate (Dan Quayle). Say what you will about Christie, he has no claim whatsoever to "it's my turn". Neither does Paul, for that matter.

    Also, it is true that the media adores Christie. But the same was true of NJ's last Republican governor, and her hopes for national office never even really got out of the gate.
