    I agree with your conclusion. I've just felt the policy should have been to eliminate HIV, from the blood supply; and therefore it was always discriminatory. Hopefully also this comment doesn't detract from Senator Warren, who should be applauded for bringing this before Congress and the nation, again.

      It's amazing how willfully ignorant the blood industry was.  As early as I think 1982, the CDC suggested (but could not force them) they should test all their blood for Hepatitis B antibodies, due to the strong correlation of people who had AIDS and had once had Hep B.  But the blood industry whined about the cost and about implementation, and so who knows how many died in the following years.
