  •  That agenda really does seem... (7+ / 0-)

designed to maximize time for conspicuous consumption.

I bear no ill will to the town of Aspen... but this round table should have been located elsewhere.

Our country can survive war, disease, and poverty... what it cannot do without is justice.

This is a group of private citizens, not public officials. I have zero issues where they meet. The only thing that matters is if they
beat to death the key issues. Most of the people who are meeting are from DC or major Metro areas. They are aware of the horrific issues poverty breeds.

Telling private citizens where they SHOULD meet is really lame.

I don't get to tell them where to meet... they chose the venue.

I am allowed to think that it's a bit hypocritical to discuss how to combat poverty while spending lots of money at a ritzy venue.

I am also allowed to point out that hypocrisy.

Since public officials also show up there, and policy decisions often reference Brookings Institute materials, I also think it matters to the public debate.

        My opinion... YMMV.

Is saying you can 't have your opinion. I'm saying it doesn't matter in the least where they meet. This isn't in anyway shape or form a venue for Mitt Romney types and 47% utterances. Many of the people meeting there have spent considerable time trying to better society. I would say you need to be a bit less sensitive about stuff like this.

and appearing to gloat shows classless and clueless if they are to be taken seriously by the people trying to solve issues and not really understanding hunger would be hard while you are dining in a Resort sipping on chapagne..
