    Sorry, I like a number of Heinlein novels and stories, but he was no progressive.  

    He was generally pretty strongly libertarian, and that shows through in his attitudes towards sex.  But those attitudes were also very much those of a straight man, and did not seem so progressive to me as a gay man.
