    You should leave the pepper on the vine until you would no longer consider even thinking about putting THAT faded thing into your mouth.

    Seeds from "fresh" vegetables are of low viability because they didn't have enough time to set and store energy.  In the wild, that doesn't matter--the plant produces so many that even 2 or 3 that grow from the entire set the last year are an advantage.  Human gardeners get kind of annoyed at very low germination rates.

    And yes, like marigolds, morning glories can survive a nuclear blast.  Actually, they've tested marigolds and they, like the cockroach, will inherit the planet (most plants will).

    At 250,000 rads, five percent of marigold seeds still germinate.  You and everybody else on the planet died when the dose passed 700 rads.
