  •  The thing that throws that off, which is (9+ / 0-)

where I would also agree with you, is the massive media circus organized around this.

Friday announcements for Sunday talk show circuit.

Anyway, what's with a bunch of phone calls being able to stop the US government from being able to do business anywhere?  Embassies could be closed on Sunday in many nations without people in the USA giving it any thought. Instead, all this noise was ginned up domestically.

And if we wanted to see how the suspects react, why not quietly shut the embassies and see how they reacted? See if we could detect any scouts in person, rather than the entire world being told repeatedly that the USA was in fear of criminals and killers yet again?

Anyway, I just find the whole thing very suspect.

    •  Meh, I just think it's the media looking for a (0+ / 0-)

story. I don't blame feeling suspicious, but I think here the media is just trying to get you, or someone not like you or me, to watch their dreadful Sunday shows, or other shows, or at least click on their sites.

I'm always being told that Friday announcements are what the administration goes when it wants to bury a story.

Now Friday announcements are what the administration does when it wants to hype a story?

        •  Well, glad to see you. When an administration (0+ / 0-)

makes a Friday announcement and wants to see it die, they do it late on Friday and -- wanting to see it die -- they do not make available lots of high ranking administration officials available for Sunday talk shows, newspaper interviews and major network access.

"Friday" doesn't mean "bury" unless "Friday" is the only time the announcement is mentioned.

If the administration wanted to close middle eastern embassies on a Sunday, no one in the USA would even need to know. Why would the public even care?

Did you know many embassies are not open on Sunday anyway? And certainly consulates are not.
