    They are elderly police officers serving in the 'Peculiar Crimes Division' which British bureaucrats are always trying to shut down. It all sounds rather twee but isn't. The crimes are indeed 'peculiar' in the best sense of the word.

    First one is Full Dark House.

    Fowler is an award-winning writer across several genres. I'd  put the Bryant and May books on a must-read list for mystery fans...esp. the ones who don't insist on their murders being 'cozy'.

      I really think that mysteries are so much more than just easy reading most of the time.  They can be very illuminating as well as gripping.  

      The partnerships between characters are important to the story.
