  •  Thanks. I'll fix it. (6+ / 0-)

I'm not afraid of her.   She will be far better for working people than any Republican.

    •  Given her early NAFTA advocacy (0+ / 0-)

I should hope we can do better, although frankly, I'm not optimistic.

      •  She and Obama (3+ / 0-)

were the same on trade agreements; both were not very good.  Bill pushed NAFTA.  Don't recall her doing much on it.  Gore debated Perot.   She was doing healthcare.  But the NAFTA wars are so 1990s.

I agree.  I'm not optimistic that there will be any otehr viable choice.

The left, in my view, needs to slowly build for the long term.  It is extremely weak.  DFA, MoveOn, all those did little in the long run.

In the end, I think the unions are the only economic left group in which on can build.

I read diaries here about the revolution is around the corner.  I recall one saying if only we get owrkers to stop watching TV (maybe he read Marcuse -- that's only 50 years old or so).  Fantasy on a blog.

We're so far away from real change.  But, unfortunately, it's easier to pretend than to face reality.

Hillary Clinton or whichever Dem nominated will (1) be better for workers than Rs; and (2) not make any fundamental change in exploitation.

I'm vote for a Hillary because of 1.

You must be missing the news of the new "free trade agreement" we're pushing with the Far East.  That, and the striking absence of any advocacy on her part for, say, Wal-Mart workers while she was on the Wal-Mart Board of Directors (!!!), tells me that finding a better candidate than HRC is a matter of the greatest possible urgency.

          •  I know about it, but (3+ / 0-)

Daily Kos awareness does not translate to real world awareness.

I'm fine with another candidate but don't see how people on Dkos can do that.

My preference is someone else, but I'm not sure anyone else is as strong against a Republican.

John Edwards used to win Daily Kos polls all the time, but it never translated to votes.  I have doubts about how trade issues play outside organized labor.

I wrote many a diary here exposing both Obama and Clinton on trade.   The impact was negligible outside Dkos and not that big even here.

Time will tell.  We're a long way from 2016.  Things can change.

I found the R panic about Clinton funny, but it does not man I necessarily support Clinton in a primary.   Have to wait and see.

There's already a huge push for HRC on this site.

                This certainly is not.

But even if there were, so what.

Daily Kos can raise money.  During election years it can help get people involved.   But the Clinton popularity is separate from Dkos.  In fact, in 2007-08, the Clintons and their supporters were savaged here.  I doubt it made a difference.

In addition, one had to distinguish between the rec list and front page.

The presidential primary calendar is so accelerated that any candidate who wants to make a legitimate run has to speak soon or forever hold his or her peace.  And draft movements don't work.  The candidate has to want it.

            •  I can only hope that someone appears, (0+ / 0-)

and relatively soon.  And preferably a governor.

              •  Whom do you have in mind? (0+ / 0-)

Who are some viable alternatives?  Although I favor Hillary Clinton, I am interested in identifying strong Democratic leaders.

                It's the Supreme Court, stupid!

Politics is, after all, not an endeavor in which the cream rises to the top.
