  •  It's that and Cory Booker's one of them as well (0+ / 0-)

Like Barack Obama, Cory Booker didn't grow up in a fortunate life so that enables him to be able to relate to the people he communicates with, who are disadvantaged, in a more personal way than most politicians.

    •  That's not quite true. (3+ / 0-)

Cory Booker grew up in one of the wealthiest suburbs in New Jersey.  His parents were both executives at IBM.

As a City Councilman in Newark, as shown in the video, Booker lived in a low income housing complex.  The video also states Booker grew up in the suburbs 25 minutes away.

        •  He moved into that housing project... (1+ / 0-)

...voluntarily, not out of necessity.  He saw it as a show of his commitment to improve the city, his opponents saw it as a publicity stunt.  That dichotomy comes up a lot when discussing Cory Booker.

          •  Yeah, a publicity stunt to move into a city (1+ / 0-)

For a guy who goes out of his way to get voters, even if he has to talk to voters directly as they're stories up, that doesn't sound like Booker was making publicity stunts from the get-go.  To me, it shows that Booker really wants to represent folks that he

Truth is, Booker is articulate from what I've seen and a good communicator.  He may not be truly progressive or 100% liberal but the deal is, he might very well be what New Jersey needs.  Since the video of Booker in Newark in 2002 is revealed, Booker might be good for Passaic as well, which happens to be my father's hometown and since the 1960's the place is now run down and practically down in the pits.

I imagine Booker, once elected to the U.S. Senate, will probably do regular town hall, meet-and-greet meetings, etc. with NJ constituents.

This should be the full sentence.  Missed completing it originally.
