  •  The legs will NOT be on the next few flights (7+ / 0-)

    They've designed the Thrust Structure (the "chassis" of the rocket that holds the engines) to support the legs being added later.  But first there will be Grasshopper2, which will practice landing on the legs.  Only after those tests are successful, and the first stages have shown the ability to gently splashdown, will legs be added to an actual launch, and a real landing attempted.

    They'll spend most of 2014 practicing with Grasshopper 2, and hopefully attempt a real landing in 2015.
