  •  Gephardt (4.00)
was just on CNN calling DSM "old news."

    What a bum.

    •  Good God, what is WRONG with him? (4.00)
I am baffled and ENRAGED by this "old news" meme.

When were we told that news?

When did we have an actual moment of accountability?

We passed right from "freedom is on the march", zealous, war-cheerleading media across the board, to....

Some kind of smirky, cynical, inside-the-Beltway conventional wisdom that "everybody knows that."

Fuck Gephardt if he said that.  Fuck Milbank.  Fuck Kinsley, that shameless tool.

560,000 people signed this because we KNOW we never had a moment accountability for this horrible tragedy, and we WON'T be told otherwise.

      •  I Know (none)
Just who's side is he on, anyway? If the collective scat hit the fan tomorrow and a reckoning came down on the side of truth would he be praised or condemned for siding with the MSM?

He might like to call himself simply a crat... because there's no way he represents the demo's with this sort of pandering

        Hermaphrodite with attitude!

      •  "Old News" Meme and the Marx Brothers (4.00)
This whole business brings to mind the scene from "Duck Soup" where Groucho, as the newly-installed Prime Minister holds his first cabinet meeting.

Groucho:  Ok, were taking up old business.  Is there  any old business?

Minister:  Yes, there is the matter of taxation.

Groucho:  Wait, that's NEW business!  Anybody have any old business?

Groucho:  Ok, let's take up new business.

Minister:  Now how about that tax.

        Groucho:  Too late---that's old business!!

According to the SCLM, the fact that Bush lied about his reasons for going to war has the exact ontological status as the minister's tax proposal: from too early to too late with no stop for "just right."

Personal note:  I've toyed with using the same basic joke as the title for an autobiography:  "Nonage to Dotage, Nonstop"

    •  Wasn't it Dick (none)
Gephardt who made the weird comment to Bush before the Afgan invasion (and the elections) for the Democrats to get some credit for supporting him?  And Bush said the would, lying, of course.  Something to this effect?

So it's no wonder Gephardt is supporting the war (and George W.) now.

Democrats have really got to find a way to instill greater party discipline if we're ever going to become effective against the Republican noise machine.  Staying on message -- this may be why Harry Reid is quickly developing into the greatest Senate Democratic leader of my lifetime.

    •  Than Gephardt (none)
should be tried with the rest of Congress that knowingly sent our troops into a trumped up war.
    •  Every time Nancy Pelosi disappoints me... (none)

...I think back to Dick Gephardt, and what a toadying, bushlicking suckbutt he was.

Worthless. An utterly worthless excuse for a congressman, a Democrat, and a person.

He shares responsibility for the deaths of these young men and women.

And my appreciation for Nancy Pelosi grows by leaps and bounds.

A Beltway Democrat is one who attacks Howard Dean with a blowtorch and George W. Bush with a popgun.
