Before Bush II & 9-11 America stood for human rights. We were far from perfect, but we we stood up for people like Ed Snowden.

How far we have fallen since 9-11.

Perhaps we haven't passed Russia in the race to the bottom. That's not really my point.

My point is that this is a sad day in American history when Russia stands up for human rights and America is the human rights violator.

    Have a nice day. :)

look for my eSci diary series Thursday evening.

      then don't make it anymore.

Whitewashing Russia's human rights record pretty much rules out someone as a credible voice on the issue of human rights.

Russia standing up for human rights? Because they granted asylum to someone who gave them classified intel about the US?

As a human rights advocate, you're a cheap date.

To Russia is Used as a basis for defense of the current President and our nations violations is really more indicative of how far we have fallen. And a Democratic President on top of it. Thinking...the soft bigotry of low expectations.

That said I am disgusted by the latest news about LGBT violations in Russia.

But Those disgusting violations do not absolve us from our own.

Government of, for, and by the wealthy corporate political ruling class elites. We are the 99%-OWS.

      •  You've got that completely backwards. (0+ / 0-)

It is the defenders of Russia who are whitewashing human rights abuses. This is a thread about Russian human rights abuses, and changing the subject is a defense of Russia.
