    but it will be close on election day either way.  If Bevins wins the primary, expect the GOP money to come pouring in.  This is a red state.  This is exactly the kind of state that can produce a hard-core tea party Senator.  The Right knows this, and will want to take advantage of that opportunity.

    McConnell is not liked by anybody.  If he survives, it will be because of establishment money and because Red Kentucky just can't send a Dem to the Senate in 2014.  Bevin, OTOH, will give the red Kentuckians something to vote FOR, rather than against.  You always get better turnout in those scenarios.

    Keep in mind also that while there might be 500,000 more Dems in KY than Republicans, most of those Dems are DINOs, and would be Republicans in purple or blue states.  They are probably legacy Dems, who's parents were Dems, and who just can't bring themselves to change their party affiliation.  I'll bet a whole bunch of them voted for Romney, more of them voted for GWB, and nearly all of them voted for Reagan.
