  •  Ah, I see your confusion Kos (12+ / 0-)

You see, Climate Change is like a religion...namely Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, Paganism, etc.  That is, complete bullshit.

Christianity, on the other hand, is not a is the TRUTH.

Always remember, atheists view every religion the way that the religious view everybody else's religion.

    Glad I could help out.

    •  Snark to you, but that's the real reasoning (4+ / 0-)

whenever cons label climate change/environmentalism as a religion: by reframing it that way, not only can they present it as a false religion (aka, anything not fundamentalist Christianity), but they also subtly (to their base) challenge the science as merely belief, & an errant belief at that ("if it's not in the Bible, it ain't true!").

The lack of culturally popular/relevant scientists--Tyson comes close to Sagan, but IMO in a smaller circle--to explain for public digestion the complexity of AGW makes it that much easier for cons to recast scientists as modern priests; holders of a truth that's above us, that we can't hope to understand, or--worse--that we shouldn't try to understand.  In that setup: their priests are right; ours are wrong; end of discussion, choose sides & weapons.

It's time to start letting sleeping dinosaurs lie, lest we join them in extinction by our consumption of them.
