  •  Lower, lower, you're getting warmer (2+ / 0-)

Maybe the interventionalists have a million lying around.

Otherwise it takes a long time.

If I had saved every single dollar I made in full time employment as an MD after medical school and used it to pay student would have taken over 7 years of my full time work before I'd paid off just my med school loans. Full time is considerably more than "full time" too.

I get paid well for what I do. I love my job most of the time. I wouldn't trade it. I feel like I made the best of my opportunities, but recognize that I had opportunities that others didn't. I don't make nearly as much as many people seem to think, though. I can't really imagine getting to the point in time of having a million in liquid assets.

My sister teaches. If I ran the world, I'd lower my pay and raise hers. (Don't tell her, she'd just tell me I could accomplish this by sending her a check.) I'd also serious subsidize both of  the educations in exchange for service in needed areas. Current programs are not terribly effective in medicine.

The plural of anecdote is not data.

    •  but you are counting internship (0+ / 0-)

residency and any fellowships which a lot of people claim as "long hard expensive education."

So doctors like to have it both ways.

I'm asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about real change in Washington ... *I'm asking you to believe in yours.* Barack Obama
