Dr. Feta said “I don’t believe a word of it. I have faith in Dr Fata.”

Most folks so trust their doctors that the facts don't bother them.

Doctors have convinced people so well that law suits for malpractice were "frivolous" that in many states they got the doctor protecting "tort reform."

When the IOM did their famous study of Malpractice they expected to find that actual med-mal was very low and the doctors' complaints were real. They were staggered to find that med-mal was so high and that in only a small percentage of cases was any claim filed. Their statistical estimate for preventable medical error killing up to 98,000 patients a year was immediately attacked by many medicos but a later more extensive study found the number closer to 200,000. That's deaths. The amount of harm short of death is staggering.

I'm asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about real change in Washington ... *I'm asking you to believe in yours.* Barack Obama
