... getting the right media coverage is crucial to effecting change.
We don't have the megaphone, otherwise know as "The Mighty Wurlitzer"

Originally a CIA term for a propaganda machine, it refers to the network of right-wing publications, think-tanks, and broadcast outlets that regurgitate the day's RNC talking points. "Wurlitzer" was a company that manufactured organs; cf. "House Organ". For further details, see Robert Borosage's article in the May 6, 2002 American Prospect. Ex-conservative columnist David Brock in his confessional memoir Blinded by the Right coined the term Republican Noise Machine to describe the same phenomenon.
Remember, Phil Donahue was pulled from MSNBC because he dared to question the war.

On an interesting side note, this image was removed from my imageshack account, who knows why.

Megaphone with 1st amendment on it.

who was always saying "Yell Louder"?

It is true the squeaky wheel gets the oil after all.

Yes, we do not have a Mighty Wurlitzer and think tanks, but it's dangerous to fall into the the mental trap that we can't do anything because of that.  We have many advantages that the "other side" does not, chiefly that many of us have retained our "inner DFH".  If we could empower the younger set with that fire from the 60s then we'd be a force to recon with.

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. John F. Kennedy
