    it is the absence of two things:

    1. a strong organized labor movement
    2. an international communist bloc

    that are making this different.  Worse.  The ruling class believes that they are on the brink of total victory and have been racking up quite a few of them on the way there.  There is no international power balance to unbridled capitalism, no real fear of organized labor's power.  So the left is largely leaderless and - some people will take umbrage to this - anarchists cause issues with groups like OWS and dilute its impact.

    There are bright spots - the $15 movement, for one.  But it is a low point for action and many of us feel enervated and generally hopeless.  Victories energize, not oppression.

      OWS would not have had an impact if not for the anarchist founders. It was precisely because of anarchist influence that OWS made the 1% vs the 99% an international meme.
