    These days being outspoken gets you fired, but I had a measured level of challenge and I survived.
    My Dad, 74, had been in shouting matches with his bosses (Honeywell's photographic division 1961-1975) before quitting to start his own business. There was nothing measured about it.

    You could challenge each other with impunity back then. He was in sales, and as long as he kept his numbers up, he could be as petulant as he wanted.

    Those days are long gone.
