Our presidential elections Are predetermined. You just have to watch the system long term.

The congress is set up so that if you keep your head down and follow orders you are unbeatable and a servant of the plutocracy for life. Very few seats change hands. it is only allowed to change hands when the partlies switch branches.

the presidency is determined years before. look at who the keynote speakers at the conventions are. And when someone like dean or mcain bucks? They go to any ends to destroy them. The collusion goes to the point of the opposition party making sure their candidate is second tier and milquetoast. Dole, Kerry, Romney..

Seriously the gop put it's money behind a moderate salesman who implemented a form of his opponents signature proposal, who made his money from outsourcing combined with a radical fringe libertarian?

We havent chosen our leaders in many many decades. At most once in a while we give the system a hiccup. Clintons role was to remove the reins from the hands of the upper class as a whole and hand  them over to the handful of board members who run the megacorps.

    •  One of the very worst things I've realized (0+ / 0-)

over the last several Presidential elections, is pretty much in agreement with what you wrote here:  our votes are essentially a farce because long before we get to primaries even, the oligarchs/plutocrats have already decided who the candidates will be and which one will win.  The Citizens United decision put the final seal and stamp of approval on the purchasing of political positions by the oligarchs/plutocrats.  I think the reason the SCOTUS gutted the Voting Rights Act is because they know our votes aren't really needed---that's all taken care of courtesy of Citizens United.  I realize some members of SCOTUS didn't vote to gut the VRA, but those 5 who did know exactly what they're doing.

    •  heh... interesting take on Clinton. Makes sense. (0+ / 0-)

He always struck me as someone who was hated because of his theft of Republican sponsorship.

That's a great angle on it. A shift from old money to new money... enter the Business of Government.
