Is the way they split the city of cincinnati into seperate districts to dilute the urban vote. I'm stuck in OH-2, despite living in the city and I keep wondering how my interests as an urban dweller have anything in common with the eastern rural expanse of my district. It's a completely undemocratic abomination.

Hamilton Co. is so blue. We even have a democratic sheriff now.

..also in OH-2. Not as deep blue as some urban areas, but this was Vern Riffe's and Ted Strickland's old stompin' grounds. Unfortunately for us both, deep red Clermont County is the heart of the district.

      Cogito, ergo Democrata.

are an abomination. Why should my Cleveland-based congresswoman be serving a chunk of Akron, which was split into four parts? Why should the west side of Greater Cleveland be served by someone from Toledo, 150 miles away? It's a total mess. And if you wonder why I have no patience for Dennis Kucinich worship anymore and why I call him an advocate of rigged elections, it's because he supported the mess. He thought it would give him an easily path to re-election. Luckily he was derailed in the primary.

Ed FitzGerald for governor Of Ohio. Women's lives depend on it.

      •  Had not heard that about Kucinich (0+ / 0-)

Think this is part of what pisses me off so much ...

Very few of the districts are even competitive (especially the Democratic ones) and it sickens me if some Democratic politicians were willing to go along with this.

The net effect is that it makes politicians responsible to a very small group of people at the statehouse and not to the people of their district.

      •  Exactly... (0+ / 0-)

I don't want retaliatory democratic gerrymandering if they ever regain power in a census year. I want a fair system of representative districts where no party has an automatic seat that they can take for granted. It leads to laziness and criminality across the political spectrum.
