  •  Not sure how we "get better" (5+ / 0-)

We had four outstanding candidates in these types of districts in 2012. They started early. They raised money. They campaigned tirelessly. One lost by a tiny margin. The others lost by more. I am not sure how we do better. There re no magic candidates that can win and dropping still MORE money into these districts probably isn't practical. We really fought for these districts in 2012, but the maps were too bad.

    •  Put all the money and effort (0+ / 0-)

into the ballot initiative.  Some kind of narrative about how your votes are being made irrelevant by the power-mad Republicans.  They're giving you plenty of fear ammo in the form of bad bills.

Husted's attempted suppression last November seemed to motivate our base pretty well.  With the right media strategy I don't see why we couldn't be motivated to turn out again in 2014.

First they came for the slippery-slope fallacists, and I said nothing. The End.

now nearly 20 months into its effort and almost ready to pop with its signatures. THAT's going to suck up resources. And all the money and effort won't stop Jon Husted from coming up with the same type of crappy ballot language. We MUST focus on taking back the statewide offices. With Nina Turner as SoS, we wouldn't have to worry about this b.s.

Nina Turner (left, in the spectacular truquoise dress) at Preterm Cleveland this past Monday night, with state rep. candidates Anthony Fossaceca (second from left) and Jill Zimon(right), plus Cuyahoga Democratic Women's Caucus chair Cindy Demsey. Jill is running to take out a wishy-washy "blue dog" type legislator. Anthony is running to flip a GOP seat in a moderately swing-ish district.
