    ... "school reformers" all across the country.

    It has been clear for nearly a decade that the so-called "charter school movement" was nothing but old-fashioned union busting dressed up in new clothes.

    Fuck working people being able to get a decent pension!

      Union busting is a side bonus.  It seems to me the charter movement is based upon the capitalist principle that new markets must always be found.  Markets have a shelf-life, so new sources of money-making are always required.  Greed, of course, is an additional motive.  

      The private sector seeks to convert all historically municipal services to private enterprises.  

      We should be mindful in the charter push that a similar movement is occurring in higher education.  The proliferation of for-profit colleges and universities that rely upon student loans are another blight that should not escape our attention.
