well, I'm not kicked off the email list, just ignored, 5 years and counting.

She shared a link & mentioned her immediate family survived WWII, most of the extended family didn't. She mentioned her parents with baby (her) went to Canada rather than Israel.

I mentioned something from the article and developed it further, not in a way she agreed with. At the same time as this mailing list conversation was happening there was also not-good things happening in the Middle East generally or I/P in particular.

Digging myself in further (though I didn't know it yet), I wrote -- worried about WWIII again -- that I was glad her parents chose Canada, that things were looking unstable.

Well, that blew it. I thought I was talking rational. I still don't understand why what Israel government is doing is somehow different than examples of forced transfer (and I include USA internal deportations of Cherokee, etc).

My opinion: anyone born in Israel, or brought there when a child, that's their home. Anyone who came there as an adult there was at least passively agreeing with the "transfers" and have some responsibility for the understandable pushback they're living in the middle of.

Giving birth (giving life) should be a gift not an obligation or women and poor people are 2nd class by definition
