There's a much quicker way to say this:

...though I agree he has performed horribly in response to questions raised by the leaks of Snowden's documents.
How about "he lied to Congress?"  Because that's what he did.

Enough of this 11 dimension chess crap, you're grasping at straws.  I also don't understand why you're even here making these arguments when you apparently believe that Clapper was never appointed to anything and that Glenn Greenwald made it all up.  I mean, I assume the "mrblifil" on the list of users that recommended that diary is the same as you, is it?

    •  Clapper "established" a group (0+ / 0-)

on which he will neither serve nor preside over. Yeah that's me, thanks for taking the time to notice. Establishing the group was not an appointment, it was a duty he performed as the Director of National Intelligence, a post in which he currently serves. Are you keeping up?

why is a guy that admitted lying to congress still serving at the pleasure of the president?  Why was he tasked by this president to "establish" the group that will review the very scandal that he lied to congress about?

And is his involvement with the group at the request of the president a "meme that has been proven false" as the diary you recommended claimed?  Was it all made up by Glenn Greenwald?  Or did it really happen?

Why would the White House feel the pressure of the criticism they got when Clapper was given this task compelling them to take action if he was never given the task?  Isn't that a tacit admission that you (and by extension, the author of the diary you recommended) are just playing juvenile semantics games ("he wasn't 'appointed...'" "he's not 'presiding...'") in a transparent and failed attempt to deflect that much-deserved criticism?

Why are you still apologizing for Clapper's involvement?  And why is he not facing jail time for perjury?

The problem is not the he was or wasn't "appointed" or that he will or won't be "presiding," the problem is that he is involved in any way and at the request of the president.  That's a fact, not a "meme" and it has certainly not been "proven false" as the dickish diary you recommended yesterday falsely claims.
