  •  Sante Fe, eh? (11+ / 0-)

I once considered Sante Fe as a possible place to move once I have the cred to get hired anywhere in the country in my field. Climate change worries keep it from the top of my list, though.

        Hi Divine and Zebra-

I live in SF part-time and have been following the regional effects of climate change and water woes in for many years.

Challenges loom. There are many climate realists in northern New Mexico who work every day, in ways small and large, to reduce their carbon footprints and water usage. Come join us, Zebra, and help the fight against denial.

Good on you, Divine, for fitting out for your Africa trip at stores other than Wal-Mart. I have yet to set foot in either store here. Back in the mid-80s when I worked 2 mos on/2 mos off at sea we used to always stock up on t-shirts, underwear and socks at Wal-Mart, knowing full well that they would be destroyed by the ship's laundry. Who knew back then that Wal-Mart would destroy so much of working Americans' opportunities?

Have a good journey and hope to meet you both in Santa Fe some time.

But now that we know this many still shop there, contributing to the downward turn for all of us?

Hey, maybe we have been some of the same actions  murfmom ? (See my diary history for a couple of posts related to 350NM .)

Funny story,  part of the time we were searching for our place in Santa Fe we lived in our camper in the older Walmart parking lot. Bought a few things out of gratitude... but that was 7 years ago.

Really frustrates me that the city ran a special bus route out to the new Super Walmart.

Santa Fe has serious water issues.  We put much of our   savings into our tiny condo there, and it does not look good for water in the future.  Divine order.

          Thanks for commenting.

          •  thanks for the tip (0+ / 0-)

I will look at your climate diaries and hope to connect with you and your better half sometime.

Yep - that super special Super WalMart bus route is annoying.

Have a great trip to Africa!

... but have managed to boycott WalMart for about 12 years now.

The only time I've bought something since was when driving north to Pilar to fish.  Realized I was missing leader and was advised that the WalMart in Espa was the only place to go.  So I broke down there :)

I did not hear about the bus route ... wonder if the city made that as a concession to WM in exchange for the living wage ?
