  •  threatening to now allow folks to air GOP debates (5+ / 0-)

hardly sounds like a "threat" at all...in fact, it sounds more like an inducement not to run them. It's not like airing political debates among primary contenders, especially when there seem to be dozens of them anyway, is going to win ANY media outlet much rewards, in terms of added viewership.

This whole thing reminds me of the movie "Blazing Saddles" where the Sheriff, played by Cleavon Little, held a gun to his own head and told everyone they'd better step back or he'd shoot (himself).

    •  wdrath, I think you nailed it. (4+ / 0-)

The debates leading up to the 2012 Election played a BIG part in re-electing Obama, so a little pearl clutching, play acting and they can rally the base without most of America finding out the true agenda.

but piss off the networks enough, and they might just air all the things they didn't even talk about last time.

All the allegations, all the non-release of info, all the juicy bits they didn't mention about candidates last time. If they're not going to get access to the candidates anyway, there's no reason NOT to spill all that stuff.

What is the GOP going to do, not let the media talk to them even MORE?

You can only take away something that you give in the first place. Don't give me access, I'll say anything against you I want, tell the truth, lies, whatever might get me ratings, because you can't do much of anything but yell about it.

And they are SO ... stupid!

I'll believe corporations are people when one comes home from Afghanistan in a body bag.
