a couple of gift cards that I'd had in a drawer for a while. I tried to use them and they wouldn't go through. I'd looked for an expiration date when I got them and not seen one, but I never noticed the fine print saying they would lose $2/month if not used. So someone paid cash for them and now they were worthless.

What possible justification can there be for this? I don't get it. They got cash upfront - why should I have to pay them for the privilege of not buying anything right away?

Just another way to rip people off.

    •  That's pretty bad. Similarly (0+ / 0-)

I received 2 gift cards for a local florist.  Expiring in 2016.  I didn't use them right away.  Turns out that florist is no longer part of that chain -- and they won't accept the cards.  There is, apparently, a florist in that chain just a train ride away.  Don't know that I'll bother.
