Unless you're complaining that we haven't complied with Oxford debate rules—to which I plead guilty—I don't see what you're getting at.

Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

...impression. It is patently b.s. and the comment thread, I believe, provides some evidence that I was correct and that the diary is short on substantive.

To have continue on would have put me in a position where someone sympathetic to the diarist's point of view could have deemed me in violation. So I shared my opinion of what was written and moved on.

Why continue on and "debate" when you believe there isn't any debate encouraged or substance to debate? At that point you aren't contributing anything. Lots of people leave pithy comments about diaries and move on and I don't see administrators calling them out for it.

I think it wise to view some invitations to "debate" as essentially being handed some nice rope and a ladder. Many here see certain debate in opposition of a diary's premise as being dickish. Which leads to reporting, which leads to unpleasantness for those who wanted to "debate".

This caution is all the more important when one perceives that some are not objective and have sympathy for a certain faction's point of view and this too, it is my opinion, is borne out in the comment thread.

Now I'm going to return to watching football and baseball if that's alright.

The politicians may be bought, and the system corrupt, but it is our duty to fix these things.
