    Heat reaction is a method of extracting or gaining energy through a secondary process as items both heat up and cool; it is a semi-solar project, but it often uses algae or other and chemical battery method for production.

    Algae based biochemical fuel production simply uses the environment created.    So, while it requires the sun (everything requires the sun) they don't view it as a solar process.  ;)
