    But once the new electrical system is largely complete and using 80% renewables, there will then be a phasing out of the legacy subsidies and German will have, without a doubt, the cheapest power in the world.
    It's really hard to predict what precisely the outcome will be, since it depends both on fossil fuel costs and  the costs of maintaining the renewable infrastructure.

    Although technology is making renewable energy cheaper, it suffers from diminishing returns on siting, as the best sites for power production and generally developed first.
