    ... the egress from the LA Basin due east is much milder than the egress to the North, so it would save on a substantial amount of tunneling, and once you hit the high desert you could build a tube with very mild curve radius so could put a 0.08g or 0.1g lateral acceleration standard in place without difficulty.

    Plus the yield of the solar panels would be higher.

    If the LA side station was at the Riverside HSR station, it could use the HSR system to recruit passengers from the LA Basin, San Diego, and the southern Central Valley.
