  •  Manning's atty interviewed on democracynow (14+ / 0-)
Tune in Thursday: Democracy Now! airs Alexa O’Brien’s exclusive interview with Bradley Manning’s attorney David Coombs

I have been impressed with the two times that David Coombs has been in the media. My sense is that he did an excellent job as Manning's attorney.

Here is what motivated Manning  - if Americans knew, that could accelerate the change or, as Coombs said,

"We don't always do what we should do."
These are my notes. Best to get the actual transcript when available from democracynow

As the last question in the interview, Alexa asked about the trial and changes needed for the future.

    1. video needed in the court room. With media access the trial could have been covered by more journalists and people could see a good young man who did what he thought was right. I think military justice is good.

    2. classified evidence. Government has too much power. Evidence not shared with defendant...

    3. Able to ask relevant witnesses. The government can block. Not equal access to witnesses.

Did he receive a fair trial? Yes
    But the outcome not fair.

He listed several grounds for appeal including changing some of the charges after the evidence was reported.
