    Anna Netrebko's statement:

“As an artist, it is my great joy to collaborate with all of my wonderful colleagues — regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. I have never and will never discriminate against anyone.”
...could put her in violation of the law in Russia, given that it's accessible to Russian minors via the Internet. And she does have a point that support for a politician doesn't necessarily mean support for all of that politician's positions. After all, most of us here voted for Obama before his "evolution" on marriage equality.

That said, Gelb's position is surprisingly tone-deaf for an artist. No one is suggesting punitive action against the Met. The petition is simply asking the Met to honor Tchaikowsky's legacy at this important juncture.
