  •  People don't know the damage caused by trade (13+ / 0-)

this is the latest and from what I can tell the worst

without an understanding of the economics of the country and our history as a protectionist nation, there is little debate on TPP

we are the first empire in history that has given away our markets to maintain our empire

In "Dark Ages America: The Final Stages of Empire," 2006,  Morris Berman points out that an empire in decline chooses leaders who hasten the decline

Reading this during W Bush years I agreed.

    Obama continues this trend

    •  Many of our economic problems today have (7+ / 0-)

been caused by very poorly done trade agreements and trade policies.

I guess I should qualify that:  The policies were very well done to benefit the rich. The wealthy and rentiers always got huge results from our trade agreements.

The working people of our nation got the shaft. And so did the working poor in other nations. Over and over, our trade treaties are implemented in other lands and farmers or some other group is utterly decimated.

It's literally so bad it is criminal.  We have almost zero advocacy for the working people of the USA or any other nation.  Every (trade/economic) policy is about enriching the rich.
