  •  This was the best part of the Politico story on... (15+ / 0-)

    ... LePage's latest misadventure:

Littlefield said in a statement to the Press Herald that calling LePage racist is “far-fetched” given the governor’s history caring for a young black man. LePage and his wife cared for a Jamaican-born man while he attended high school in Maine.
Reminds me of a great story from my college days when a local old white racist was running for a seat on the city council from a predominately black district. (He lost.)

The local paper asked this renowned redneck (he owned a local gun shop) how he would relate to his primarily black constituency, and the guy said (without a trace of self-awareness):

"For years my barber has been black, and I'm good friends with all the black waiters out at the country club."

Calling other DKos members "weenies" is a personal insult and therefore against site rules.

    •  Well, Paulie LePage has also suggested (8+ / 0-)

that the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram offices ought to be a target of a drone strike. I kid you not. It's not just because it's the state's paper of record, but because they actually "do" journalism over there. The fact that Rep. Chellie Pingree's (D-ME 01) husband owns it is probably part of the animus, I'm sure.

I resent that. I demand snark, and overly so -- Markos Moulitsas.

that two other candidates for office may have had a hand in the leak. On WGAN this morning Littlefield said:

The question is, 'Who were these anonymous sources?' Were the anonymous sources being coordinated by the Mike Michaud campaign or the Eliot Cutler campaign? Maybe they were just calling on their own. They claim that they're Republicans. The whole thing just seems strange to me - on its face.
This came after Littlefield tried to drag the Press Herald and Bangor Daily News through the mud.

      •  This afternoon, Eliot Cutler sent this response to (4+ / 0-)

        Littlefield's assertion:

Same play book as they used in 2010, when they accused our campaign of going through Paul's garbage.

The only difference is that the governor's garbage is now part of the public record.
