    ...seriously than Thabo Mbeki's idiotic notion of curing HIV with herbal remedies.

      They were awarded a $25,000 prize for their soap, it contains mosquito repellant as part of its formulation  It doesn't cure Malaria, it prevents it by preventing the mosquito bites that spread it.  Not anything like 'curing' HIV.  

      Mosquito nets prevent Malaria as well, but the don't cure it either.  Both the soap and the nets prevent the spread of malaria by preventing its spread.  Just like condoms prevent the spread of HIV but they don't cure it.

        Then it would be preferable to being bitten by mosquitoes, for sure!
