  •  We agree that he needs a diagnostician & have told (7+ / 0-)

our daughter that we would pay since he does't have insurance. I have no idea if he would be willing to stay on medications but I know that he is in great distress. After he said that he wasn't probably coming back, she saw him get into his vehicle & sit there sobbing.

you wake up and understand what's really going on. Then it takes some time for that knowledge to be digested and dealt with.
Then, maybe they can start over, if it's worth it for them and have a more adult contribution from both parties.
He may need medications, but he also desperately needs his own self esteem and self-respect, and if you gloss  his problems over with drugs and dependency it doesn't bode well for the future.
Furthermore, it takes two to tango. Behavior is a semiotic, he's trying to communicate something, and there may be something lacking in the other side of the relationship that you are in no position to assess objectively.
Your daughter absolutely cannot keep playing "mommy" for him, and he needs to grow up, or they will always be on a disastrous course, adhd or no.

You can't make this stuff up.

I have no advice -- you don't need me to tell you that the young man has a psychological problem of some sort -- but, you are extremely nice to want to help him, even though your daughter is better off without him.

      Your reaction is incredibly nice.
