      Personally, I don't want the site to be shut down, but damn, jbou makes a compelling argument. In my short time here, I have witnessed the bad blood first-hand. I suspect most everyone else has as well.

      The problem, as I see it, is not as simple as everyone being cooped up too long with no Republicans to rally against. I think what we are seeing is an ideological divide which is manifesting itself within the community.

      This sentence perfectly sums up the strongest (imo) indicator:

      When the problems start arising is when the same people are presenting the same facts day after day week after week and no one on either side of the discussion is doing anything to change the other person's mind.
      When both sides well know each other's arguments, and neither will budge, it means the gap results from a fundamental disagreement.
