    A good guy with a shield overcomes a bad guy with a gun.

    Back in the real world, notice that actual teachers' motivation in such a situation is to protect their students. Having a single small shield available only adds an ethical dilemma to an already fraught situation: which student gets to hide behind the shield?

      bullets just bounce off the shield while the good guy runs at the bad guy to take him down.

      In the real world, good luck holding the shield steady and not getting knocked on your ass when the first slug strikes the shield.

      The inventor lives inside a cartoon world, as do the folks who bought these for classrooms.
