So if you tender that respect for another individual, you tender it here.  And if you reserve that for face to face meetings, well...hmmm.

I am trans.  I'm not clocked all that often, and my medical transition (which everyone trans doesn't do, or advocate, this is just me) was nigh 20 years ago.  When past colleagues and some people in my social circle find out, they often have an opinion similar to yours.    When I was younger I cared about that.  I don't now, much -- I'm the other side of the line you draw.  Think whatever you want, but address me properly in public and observe the courtesies due another person.

So, do your principles about gender so firmly trump courtesy?

BTW, you will find as many opinions about gender as there are trans people.  Gender may be largely a construct or not -- I think most such things are a mix -- but I would argue that the phenotypic expression of genetic gender varies widely in other parts of the animal kingdom, as well, and the fact we humans can hack that hormonal process, to a degree, does not make us "really" members of a gender of origin.  Or target, for that matter -- in biological terms, I'd call myself biologically trans.  In civil terms, I have civil rights only as a man or a woman, and as a trans woman, if you insist I am a deluded man, I have very few civil rights indeed.

    Unless you extend that courtesy.

(and that's it, my best shot today)

...j'ai découvert que tout le malheur des hommes vient d'une seule chose, qui est de ne savoir pas demeurer en repos dans une chambre.
