People who actually want to get things done will be out in the real world doing so.

This? At the rate things are going?

    Not so much.

Far too much is riding on the mid terms and 2016 for this level of self indulgence.

For example, in my home state, if we work hard enough to get out the vote for our Democratic candidate for Governor next year, we will actually be able to get rid of the odious Gov. Le Page.

That's what I'm going to be helping with.

Just thinking about it makes me smile. :)

Helping get rid of Le Page is helping my community.

that Le Page's replacement will be more than incrementally better.

Problem is that the biosphere is dying and we need radical changes now.  The farther up the political food chain you go, the more hopeless the cause: Neither of two candidates supporting the same "free trade agreements" will save us.

currently one of the Congressional Reps who is questioning the free trade agreements, and is a strong supporter for action on Climate Change now, I think we'll be taking a few steps in the right direction.

as they accede to greater power (my Mark Udall is an excellent example thereof); sometimes they don't.   There's no way to predict the future, and you don't have the money to buy the outcome; so good luck.

Looking forward to throwing one of ALEX's lackeys out of the Governor's House.

I'm not too worried about his replacement morphing into something unrecognizable. He worked in a paper mill for decades, even while serving in the State Legislature.

He's pretty damn deeply rooted and does his own thinking. A thoughtful man. I tend to like that.

                Have a good evening, corvo.

about a thoughtful young community organizer not so long ago.

We have to elect someone, and you go with the best you have at the time.

If you find you need better, then you go look for that person.

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.

                  •  Here's the way I see it, corvo (0+ / 0-)

For one, I long, long, ago, gave up any expectations of perfection from anyone. It's always going to be mix of good, mediocre, or bad.

I deal with the hand that's been dealt and right now that means that my state has the worst governor it has probably ever seen. And he's doing damage. The only reason my state has not gone the way of Wisconsin and North Carolina is that last year Democrats took back control of the state Legislature.

Imagine that! Voting making a difference.

Now we have the opportunity to get rid of the ALEX owned, Tea Party favorite, embarrassment from hell, Le Page.

And it's going to be a fight.

We can't afford the luxury of cynicism and saying a pox on both their houses.

Not if we actually want to remove Le Page from the Governorship.

That's the hand that's been dealt until we can create a better one.

There's no such thing as a guaranteed perfect outcome. That doesn't mean it's not worth doing.

It is, after all, how change does happen.
