Bill Clinton received the highest approval rating of his presidency in the Gallup Poll on the day the House of Representatives voted to impeach him.

Two Democratic presidents, two impeachments. If that doesn't convince the voting public of the toxicity of today's Republican Party, nothing will.

... it seems they absolutely refuse to learn from their mistakes. Fighting immigration reform, threatening a government shut down, and now threatening impeachment for their silly made-up reasons. It's like they're daring the American public to vote stupid... and 48% still will.

criminal offense, though his perjury for my money doesn't even come close to the standard of "high crimes and misdemeanors" laid out in the Constitution.

If they try to impeach Obama, they'll have to make it up out of whole cloth.  Which doesn't mean they won't try...

they eventually had "an actual criminal offense" sorta.

It wasn't the first time his libido had been the subject of fevered repub fantasy, of course.

The whole impeachment train-wreck started with no more focus than the current fiasco. After years of innuendo and insinuation (or insinuendo), with many claims they were about to reveal a "smoking gun"--literally, almost, in the case of the claims that Vince Foster was murdered. Self-declared deadlines came and went, mostly accompanied by efforts to muddy the water.

Specifics are always the R's biggest problem, since they start from the verdict they want to hear and try to cobble together a case to justify it.

This garbage isn't funny at all, but if the nut jobs are determined to be defined by such insanity they will get plenty of help from our side.

Speaking of which, the impact I am most looking forward to (should these buffoons proceed with another reckless impeachment) is the unifying effect it will have on Democrats and Independents. Nothing, sadly, gets us working together as much as hateful attacks by our true opponents.

So I semi-reluctantly echo the call, "Bring it on!"
